Van Buren Latchkey Program

Our Van Buren latchkey program provides outdoor play, afternoon snacks, quite time for homework, and education/fun table choices such as; writing, open art, blocks, games, and team sports. We have an open-door policy and encourage parents to visit the class anytime as well as offer advice for dealing with their child. The following is a break down of what our typical latchkey schedule looks like:

BEFORE SCHOOL

6:30 – 7:30 AM

Arrival and routines: Children arrive and are greeted by the staff. Breakfast is provided by parents and is served upon arrival. Teachers work with families to provide a supportive, consistent environment.

7:15 – 9:00 AM

Choice Time. Centers are available for children to make choices and freely explore several activities. Fun with arts/ crafts and gym time provided.

AFTER SCHOOL

3:45 –  4:30 PM

Arrival and routines: Children arrive and are greeted by the staff. A snack is provided by parents and is served upon arrival. Time to complete any homework from the school day is given, followed by free play or arts and crafts.

4:30 – 5:30 PM

Outdoor recess is provided (weather permitting) or gym time otherwise.

5:30 – 6:00 PM

Students are provided free play time prior to departing for the day.
